Baked broccoli and cauliflower casserole

Ingredients :

  • 4 cups bite-size fresh broccoli
  • 4 cups of fresh cauliflower, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 4 tablespoons of butter (divided)
  • 2 tablespoons of flour
  • 1 cup (250 ml) milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 cup (65 ml) + 1 tbsp cream cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 cup (250 mL) grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) Panko breadcrumbs

Preperation :

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 ° F (190 ° C).
  2. Combine 2 tablespoons of butter with the breadcrumbs and set aside.
  3. Boil the cauliflower in a large pot for 2 minutes, then add the broccoli and let it boil for another 2 minutes. Drain.
  4. In an ovenproof saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter, add the flour and mix. 
  5. Whisk in the milk until thick and bubbly. Add salt, cream cheese, garlic powder, pepper and mustard. Mix well.
  6. Add the cheddar cheese. Add the broccoli and cauliflower.
  7. Add the breadcrumb mixture.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes!
