Aging is an inevitable thing in our lives, and there are no surefire ways to prevent aging, but there are some things you can do that speed up the aging process, whether you know it or not.

And if you are someone who sees aging and wrinkles as a badge of honor, or a sign of a good life, then it will give you more power.

But if you’re someone who fights to keep you looking young and healthy, here are eating habits that will cause you to age faster, according to nutritionists.

 

You are not eating enough protein

Not eating enough protein can make a person age faster, as dietary protein helps maintain lean body mass. As such, muscle loss as we age, also known as sarcopenia, contributes to injuries and chronic disease.

 

You eat a lot of sugar

Sure, eating sweets is absolutely delicious, but too much sugar can play a role in your body aging faster.

Eating a diet high in sugar can make you age faster and cause “collagen damage,” which can increase fine lines and wrinkles.

 

Not eating enough fiber

Fiber is important for maintaining regular bowel movements and promoting satiety. Sweet potatoes, carrots, and winter squash contain beta-carotene, a carotenoid that offers some unique health benefits.

Carotenoids, such as beta-carotene, accumulate in the outer layer of the skin and act as a protective barrier to UV rays. Eating foods containing beta-carotene helps improve skin aging by supporting skin elasticity and hydration, which ultimately reduces the appearance of wrinkles and age spots.

The data also shows that including adequate amounts of beta-carotene in your diet may help protect the skin from UV damage.
