Your beauty is important to us, so be careful with your products
After you found your amazing skincare products that work wonders for little to no cost. Perhaps you tend to use it sparingly to stretch it a few more miles, or treat your skin with it only for special occasions and date nights. But you definitely want to use enough product each time, so that you have the ability to prove that it works. Plus, you want to make sure you get all the benefits before it ends!
The sad truth is that skin care products have a shelf life, and they usually don’t take long after they’ve been opened. This is especially true for natural, non-toxic skin care products. While the botanical ingredients are incredibly potent, that doesn’t bode well for them to collect dust, so note the date of purchase, but also look for the expiration date on the packaging. You’ll see that most packages have an expiration date, and you’ll also notice that the dates for all-natural products are often much shorter.
If you are wondering, what is the risk? Well, aside from expired products that simply don’t work well, or at all (in this case, your meticulous efforts to extend product time in your control may be completely counterproductive), it may cause a reaction. The ingredients are chemically bound, which may cause burns and irritation. They can also contain bacteria, causing infection or the spread of pimples
sunscreen cream
Go ahead and invest in quality sunscreens. The important thing is that you have about two years of use before they start to break down, so apply a thick enough layer for protection.
Heat can break down chemicals and activity faster. Don’t leave the cream in your car, as it basically turns into a furnace of fire in the summer and ruins your produce. And for a day at the beach, throw it in the fridge or leave it shaded in your bag. If it turns yellow or develops a sour smell, you should say goodbye.
serum
Serum is a nourishing powerhouse and a holy grail when it comes to nourishing your face. For this reason, it is important to keep the expiration date in high esteem, as the effectiveness decreases over time, about a year. After a year, the ingredients in the serum may not cause a reaction, but they may not work anymore.
This is especially true when it comes to vitamin C. The ingredients are very unstable, so when you open the serum that contains it, feel free to use it well and within a year. Vitamin C powders, however, are more stable and can last for several years added to your favorite serums for an extra boost.
face moisturizers
We tend to be more devoted to our favorite moisturizers, and we’d buy the same product over and over if it worked well for us. The same goes for moisturizers as for serums where you have about a year from opening. In this case, the main indicator is the smell. If your moisturizer looks and smells the same the first time you got it, you have time. As soon as you notice a change in color, consistency, or smell, it is expired. We are sorry for your loss.
But while ingredients vary and therefore individual shelves will still be by a small margin, these estimates are highly reliable. However, as with sunscreen, you should maintain a comfortable temperature and keep the packaging out of direct light. Sunlight, heat, and humidity speed up the decomposition process, so they get trapped inside a medicine cabinet or dark drawer, or if you want to get real fancy – a fridge is the way to go. Your products work hard for you. Make sure they live their best life.
