Watch out: harmful ingredients in skin care products

When buying any skin product, make sure that the product is free of harmful ingredients in skin care products! Women today strive to do their best to delay the appearance of the effects of aging   with many skin care products. There are many products that you can choose from: however, you may find some products that are harmful to the skin. Unfortunately, these products do more harm than good. This is because many of them contain ineffective and unsafe ingredients and some hidden dangers.

Beware: harmful ingredients in skin care products

Misconception about rubbing the face:

The idea behind the facial scrub is to deep clean the skin. You may need to scrub the skin to get rid of dead cells. However, there are many abrasive products that contain coarse particles, such as apricots and walnuts, that do not clean the skin. On the contrary, it works to leave small holes in the face and you may not see these openings with your eyes, but it works to enter the bacteria, and it may result in redness, inflammation and freckles. Many may suffer from acne or sensitive skin problems, and are actually victims of unhealthy scrubs.

Components that affect age:

Many creams and lotions needed to exfoliate the skin contain emulsions. And emulsifiers are soap-based materials. It absorbs the water and oils in the skin and therefore does not take care of your skin. It also leaves soap residues, which damages the natural protective layer of your skin, which leads to dryness of the skin. Which leads to the skin losing its freshness and looking older. Emulsifiers include polysorbate, stearate, stearate, cetearyl and steareth.

Cancer concerns:

There are some ingredients in products that extend the life of the skin, such as methylparanin, propyl, butyl, and ethylparanin, which can also pose a risk to your health. Doctors said that Paranin works to cause an imbalance in the hormonal system. An element of paranin was found in samples of breast cancer. This prompted scientists to conclude that paranin may cause breast cancer.

It also has other harmful consequences. There are some of the more dangerous components such as 1-4 dioxane, which causes cancer. You may not find dioxane listed under skin care ingredients, but you can search for these words – polyethylene – polyethylene and glycol – and polyoxyethylene.

And any word that ends in oxynol or eth, such as teeter.

Safe products for your beauty:

You must use products that are safe and not harmful to your skin, as well as of high quality, and that do not contain emulsifiers, rough ingredients or paranin.

But you should use products that nourish your skin and make it look younger and brighter, meaning that they fight aging

The 10 Best Foundations for Mature Skin

There are some universal truths about our skin as we get older: It loses elasticity, so lines and wrinkles become more pronounced; sun spots and dark marks develop from years of UV exposure; and oil production slows over the years, resulting in skin that’s more dry than dewy. This is all less than ideal as far as makeup application is concerned. The right creams and serums can help stave off and even reverse some of these signs of aging, but the key to flawless, ageless makeup is to use one of the best foundations for mature skin. These expert-loved formulas leave skin plump and hydrated, and some are even laced with skincare ingredients that get to work while you’re going about your day. Ahead, our 10 tried-and-true formulas

SKIN-LIKE FINISH

2

FULL COVERAGE

Airbrush Flawless Longwear Foundation

Charlotte Tilbury

As the name Airbrush Flawless implies, this foundation is full coverage and leaves a matte finish—but it’s never drying. In fact, it’s actually a serum-foundation hybrid, with ingredients that help hydrate the skin and reduce wrinkles. If you’re looking for a waterproof, sweatproof, life-proof option that looks as great on camera as it does in real life, this is it.

3

If you prefer something a little more mattifying, try Estée Lauder’s iconic Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation. Available in more than 55 shades, the buildable medium-coverage formula is genius for covering sun and age spots while leaving skin looking naturally flawless.

5

7

SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT

Light Wonder Foundation

NATURAL-LOOKING COVERAGE

Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation

Clinique

This foundation is what you get when you cross a vitamin C, hyaluronic, and salicylic acid serum with a medium-to-full-coverage foundation. Skin looks smooth, radiant, and even while you’re wearing it (and, after a few weeks, even after you wash it off)

Huda Beauty Just Relaunched Its Liquid Lipsticks

Fans of Huda Beauty—and liquid lipstick in general—rejoice: the trend-setting makeup brand has relaunched their best-selling Liquid Matte Lipstick and Lip Contour pencils with updated vegan formulas that are also smudge- and transfer-proof. Available to shop today, Huda Beauty’s new lip range is designed to last up to eight hours per wear, with a comfortable, more hydrating new formula that’s the brand’s thinnest to date.

Founder Huda Kattan and her team have been developing the improved texture of their liquid lipsticks for nearly two years, which currently features a blend of lycopene, olive oil, vitamins A and E, and fatty acids for added moisture. Kattan took to her Instagram and YouTube channels early last week to announce the launch and share her excitement behind it.

This content is imported from YouTube. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

“When we first launched our Liquid Matte it was such a crazy venture for us, because we weren’t really in makeup, we were just lashes,” Kattan  “It later became a best-seller, but we didn’t really do anything to it. My team and I would always take all the reviews from Sephora, print them out, and take them to the manufacturers. We’d make small adjustments but never any major changes.”

Kattan and her team finally decided to rethink the formula entirely, by eliminating alcohol and making it vegan. “We weren’t planning on the new lipsticks being such a major announcement, just making a new and better formula that our consumers would use,” she says. “Then Sephora was like, ‘You have to talk about this, it’s so much better,’ so now we’re relaunching and making a big deal out of it.”

Now available in 16 different shades—which include the lipstick’s original eight colors plus eight additional options—the collection features a mix of nude, pink, burgundy, and red hues that are suited for a variety of skin tones. “We have some new colors—we had quite a big range before, but I don’t think there was a very big thought process behind we colors we needed within the industry, and we ended up really thinking about that and choosing 16 shades total,” Kattan says. “Some are the OGs and some are newer shades; they’re very beautiful.” The new lipstick itself takes no more than 30 seconds to dry to a matte finish and contains a recyclable outer pack.

The latest vegan formula was rigorously tested by Kattan’s team and a number of independent labs for its efficacy, which later helped confirm the brand’s eight hour wear claim. “For this version we got an eight hour wear claim which was amazing,” she adds, “we weren’t able to get that on our previous liquid lipstick. I also think the consistency of this version is a bit better with viscosity as well—it’s much smoother of an application. I feel like it was like us back in the day—though we’re creating the product with the same lab—kind of creating a product and then growing up, making sure that the lipstick has a creamier, better application for our community.”

Huda Beauty’s Liquid Matte Lipsticks and Lip Contour 2.0 Liners are available online at Huda Beauty and Sephora

Sephora’s New Affordable Mascara Gave Me All the Drama Without the Clumps

There are two things I need when it comes to mascara: drama and drama. I much prefer thick, ultra-black formulas to more natural-looking ones. What I don’t like are clumps that keep me from layering a dozen coats to my heart’s desire. So, when Sephora revealed it was launching a new mascara under its budget-friendly Sephora Collection line, I knew I had to try it. Though I’m consistently impressed with the line’s offerings, I didn’t have high hopes Sephora Collection’s Big By Definition Defining & Volumizing Mascara would deliver everything I wanted. Well, I was pretty wrong about that.

The ultra-black buildable, vegan mascara promises to define and separate every lash with its multidimensional brush. Plant-based proteins and vegetable-derived waxes condition lashes while the mascara adds clump-free volume. “It looks natural and instantly volumized after one coat but can also build for a more dramatic effect,” Helen Dagdag, Sephora Collection National Artist, tells STYLECASTER.

Sephora Collection.

She’s right. On the first swipe, I was a little disappointed at how naturally full my lashes looked. Those who like that look will love this formula. But I was pleasantly surprised when I continued to layer on the volume and my lashes got longer and fuller with literally zero clumps. I checked myself out in the back of an Uber and was shocked at how great my lashes looked. The lightweight formula really feels like you’re wearing nothing.

I’ve been focusing so much on the formula, but Dagdag’s favorite part about this new mascara is actually the brush. “It has a slight taper and isn’t too big, so you won’t end up with a mess all over your lids,” she says. “The brush is on the smaller side which really allows you to build volume from the base and pull the formula through each lash for a defined look.” She likes to wiggle it at the base of her lashes and slowly “pull up and out” for a fanned-out effect.

I wore Big By Definition for most of the day and was impressed it didn’t flake all over my face considering how many coats I used. It did fade by the end of the day, about as much as other budget-friendly versions. But for $12, it’s a great option for pretty much everyone, for more natural-lash lovers or those who need the drama, like me.

DIY: a homemade eye contour

HOMEMADE EYE CONTOUR: PROPERTIES OF THE INGREDIENTS

This eye contour recipe is made up of few ingredients, but they are nonetheless effective! I used essential oil, vegetable oils and aloe vera gel, which will have a beneficial effect on the eye area.

The essential oil of Italian helichrysum , also known as immortelle, is a natural anti hematoma. It is used in the event of blows and bruises, but also in the context of blood circulation disorders such as varicose veins and dark circles. Helicrysum is rather expensive but it is an essential oil for everything. It is for example healing in the event of a cut.

Aroma point: it is prohibited during pregnancy, during breastfeeding and in children under 6 years old. It is not recommended in the event of anti-coagulant treatment.

Avocado oil  is a very nourishing vegetable oil, particularly suitable for the eye contour. The eye contour needs to be nourished, but it is such a fine area of our face that we should not apply too rich or heavy treatments. Avocado oil is perfect for this since it nourishes in lightness and acts against fine lines and wrinkles. Thanks to its particular composition (vitamins A, D, E and omega 6), this oil will nourish the eye area and regenerate cells.

Calophyllum oil , also known as tamanu  oil, is the perfect oil for the eye area! Despite its rather strong smell which fades after application, this is the oil for you if you want to reduce your dark circles. It promotes blood circulation by thinning the blood and can be used in cases of varicose veins, rosacea and heavy legs.

Aroma point: it is not recommended in case of anti-coagulant treatment and can be used up to a maximum of 20% in the total of your homemade cosmetic recipes.

Aloe vera gel ,  in addition to being the ingredient to have in your home urgently, is an excellent ingredient for providing hydration. As much to the skin as to the hair! Used in an eye contour recipe, it promotes cell renewal and stimulates the synthesis of collagen and elastin.

HOMEMADE EYE CONTOUR ROLL-ON: HOW TO DO IT

In a small bowl pour:

  • 1 ml of avocado vegetable oil
  • 1 ml of  calophyllum vegetable oil
  • 1 drop of Italian helicrysum essential oil
  • 3 ml of  aloe vera gel
  • 1 drop of preservative (cosgard type)

Mix everything using a mini whisk and pour the contents into an amber roll-on bottle (5ml) using a fine funnel.

You can apply your moisturizing eye area morning and night, for a less puffy, darker and more hydrated eye area. Apply the product to the bone below the eye and pat gently.

You do not need to put your eye contour at the level of the pocket since it will go up towards the eye by capillary action (magic!). For storage, you can put your eye contour in the refrigerator for a cool kiss effect, but otherwise you can  keep it for 3 months  stored away from air, heat and light.

Make eyeliner and mascara at home

 What is commercial kohl?

Commercial eyeliner has been used for centuries to make a woman’s face look more attractive. And the first eyeliner that was used that contains antimony sulfide to make the eyes stand out. In the Middle Ages, kohl was also used, but with lead and other toxic ingredients applied to the face to make the face look more attractive so that the face would not look pale because kohl lining the eyes makes it appear more prominent.

When commercial kohl was first used, thimerosal, preservatives, turpentine, lead, aniline, and some companies did not disclose the other ingredients contained in it. More recently, the cosmetic industry has been required to form a list of ingredients in its products to achieve better control over the ingredients.

Let’s take a look at some simple ingredients in homemade kohl. Here are the main ingredients in homemade kohl:

There are two types of kohl that you can safely prepare and save. Be careful, there are no preservatives in kohl and this can quickly develop mold and bacteria. You can use a small, clean spoon to empty a small amount of kohl and leave it to cool.

The main ingredients in kohl are castor oil, wax, and color, thus activating charcoal or mineral pigments, but try to choose mineral pigments that have been approved for use in cosmetics. There are a few colors available but it’s best to stick with what’s natural like brown and black. You can find a few dyes. Activated charcoal can be found from health food stores or purchased in the form of activated charcoal capsules for use.

Homemade kohl recipe:

Initial description:

  •  2 tablespoons of organic coconut oil (extra virgin coconut oil is your best option).
  • 4 teaspoons of aloe vera gel.
  • 1-2 capsules of activated charcoal.
  • 1/2 tablespoon of cocoa powder.

Steps:

Take aloe vera gel and put it in a clean frying pan and pour the organic coconut oil into it and add activated charcoal or cocoa powder to the pan. Put the mixture on a low heat and stir with a spoon until all the ingredients are melted until completely dissolved and a suitable mixture is formed, then the bowl is raised from the temperature and left the mixture until it cools. Pour the mixture into a clean plastic bag and make a small hole in the plastic bag.

And now take a small empty eyeliner tube to start putting the mixture inside it through the plastic bag and work to transfer the entire mixture to the tube slowly and try to close slowly and close the lid tightly to prevent air from reaching it.

The second recipe for home kohl:

  • 1 tablespoon of shea butter.
  • 4 tablespoons of jojoba oil.
  • 4 tablespoons of castor oil.
  • 4 tablespoons of candle wax.
  •  2 tablespoons other vegetable wax.

 Ingredients :

He took the regular wax and the vegetable wax and put them in a saucepan and poured the jojoba and castor oil inside it with the addition of shea butter also to the pan and left it on a low heat. Make sure to leave the ingredients until they melt completely and keep stirring constantly. Once the ingredients melt, you can raise them from the temperature and mix well.

Now that the eyeliner is ready, you can pour it into a completely clean empty eyeliner tube in the same way as before. It is preferable to store the tube of kohl at home in a cool and dark place, and using a brush, you can apply it on the eye.

Why do you need to use mascara at home?

In order to get a complete make-up, you need to try the home mascara, as it is like lip balm one of the basics of make-up. Mascara contains basic formulas and ingredients such as pigmentation, oils, and waxes, but the mascara on the market these days contains a lot of other ingredients that are not declared.

Very loose cosmetics are regulated by the FDA and there is a great deal of freedom when making beauty products today so you have to worry about the ingredients in mascara. Some studies have found that they are carcinogenic and other ingredients are highly toxic. Organic mascara that contains natural products has been used for a short time, but at first there were allergic reactions such as redness and itching of the eyes and these reactions are attributed to the presence of methyl parabens, aluminum powder or gasoline alcohol, which is often found in mascara.

Even high-cost organic mascara brands are full of ingredients that are no longer safe, so you need to prepare them yourself to ensure they are homemade and safe.

 Why try home mascara?

Initial attempts to prepare homemade mascara may be unsuccessful, but repetition gives impressive results and the results are worth trying, especially since it is easy to implement the recipe yourself in your home and get a tube of natural mascara.

Natural mascara recipes:

Initial description:

  • 2 teaspoons of organic coconut oil.
  • 4 teaspoons of aloe vera.
  • 1 teaspoon of beeswax.
  • 1 capsule of activated charcoal.
  • 1/2 tablespoon of brown cocoa powder.

Put the pure aloe vera gel in a clean pan and pour the organic coconut oil inside it with the addition of grated beeswax inside it. Put it on a low heat and stir until the beeswax melts completely to form the right mixture. Add activated charcoal or cocoa powder according to the color you prefer and stir again using a spoon until combined. between the components correctly.

Remove the container from the temperature and leave the mixture until it cools. Once it cools, pour it into a clean plastic bag by making a small hole inside the plastic bag and using a clean mascara tube to put the ingredients inside and transfer the entire mixture into the tube slowly and tightly closed to prevent air from reaching it.

 Second description:

  • 1 teaspoon of jojoba oil.
  • 1 teaspoon of glycerin.
  • 1,1/ 2 tablespoons of pure aloe vera gel.

  •  spoons of activated charcoal, or cocoa powder.
  • 1 tablespoon of your favorite moisturizing oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon of Hydroxyethylcellus.
  • 3 tablespoons of distilled water.
  • 1/2 tablespoon of the preservative.

 Steps:

Pour the moisturizing oil and activated charcoal powder or cocoa of your choice into a mixing bowl and mix them together, then set the mixture to one side.

Take candelilla wax, wax emulsion, ozkerite wax, stearic acid in a pot and put them on the stove, stirring, and then lowering the temperature of the pan.

In another small pan, you can put the jojoba oil, aloe vera gel, glycerin, distilled water and put it on a very low heat. Once the oil mixture becomes a warm jelly, raise it from the heat and stir constantly using a spoon.

After raising the melted wax mixture from the heat and adding the color mixture to it again with stirring to combine all the ingredients and pouring the hydrocarbon mixture into it while maintaining the stirring to prevent any lumps from forming or the occurrence of cutting the mixture, put the bowl on the fire again while maintaining the stirring and starting to pour the mixture in An empty and clean mascara tube just like the previous method. Make sure to change the tube every 4-6 months to avoid bacteria growth in homemade mascara.

Third description:

  • 2 teaspoons of coconut oil.
  • 4 teaspoons of aloe vera gel.
  • 1/2 teaspoon of beeswax.
  • 1 capsule of activated charcoal.
  • Clean mascara bowl.

Put the coconut oil, grated beeswax and aloe vera gel in a small bowl over a low heat and stir the mixture until the ingredients dissolve, open the activated charcoal capsules, and pour them over the oil mixture and stir until they are completely mixed together before removing it from the temperature.

Pour the ingredients into a small plastic bag and push the mixture in the direction of the hole in the plastic bag to pour the mixture into the mascara container and it is ready for use.

 Fourth description:

  • 1/4 teaspoon of black mineral powder.
  • 1/4 teaspoon bentonite clay.
  • 1/8 teaspoon of vegetable glycerin.
  •  1/4 teaspoon of aloe vera gel.
  • 5 drops of lavender essential oil.

Steps:

Mix all ingredients together in a very small bowl until completely smooth. Add more aloe vera gel if needed to get the right consistency and become smooth.

Wash the medicine dropper carefully so that you can use it to transfer the mixture to the mascara bowl or transfer the mixture to the mascara directly in the mascara tube and mix with the mascara brush until all the ingredients are mixed together smoothly inside the tube as you do with regular mascara

Draw eyebrows
6 steps to drawing eyebrows

Eyebrows help define the shape of the face, so many women ask: “How do I paint my eyebrows perfectly?”

Draw eyebrows

Here, we introduce you to a number of steps that help you draw your eyebrows easily, according to “care beauty “.

Preparing the eyebrows: This step includes cleaning the skin well before starting, to get a better result, and then using the brush to comb the eyebrows.

Determining the appropriate length of the eyebrow for your face shape: by holding a pencil straight to the side of the nose to determine the beginning of the eyebrow, then tilting the pencil from the tip of the nose to the tip of the eye to determine the end point of drawing the eyebrow.

Drawing the eyebrow frame: Start by drawing the bottom of the eyebrows, which helps you fill in the spaces of the eyebrows later, then use the brush to brush the eyebrows hair down, so that you can draw the upper part of the eyebrows.

Filling the spaces of the eyebrows: After the step of drawing the eyebrows frame, the step of filling the spaces of the eyebrows comes with a brown colored pencil, so that it is closer to the natural shape, then make sure to gradually fill the spaces of the eyebrows closer to the natural.

Eyebrows brushing: In this step, we restyle the eyebrows so they look natural.

Concealer application: The last step is to apply concealer, to hide any trace of drawing and highlight the eyebrow drawing.

BENEFITS OF HYALURONIC ACID

Hyaluronic acid is the most demanded medical-aesthetic treatment in recent years. According to Dr maxillofacial surgeon, and expert in facial aesthetic medicine, “it is a very versatile molecule that is useful for hydrating the skin,  preventing wrinkles, and correcting flaccidity”. The expert reveals all the secrets of hyaluronic acid.

What is hyaluronic acid? Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is found naturally in the skin, joints, and cartilage of humans. It can also be synthesized by biological engineering. Hyaluronic acid is very important for the skin because it is part of what is called the extracellular substance, which is made up of hyaluronic acid, collagen, and elastin, and the space between the cells that will give consistency to the skin, for what is essential in the health of the same and its aging. Hyaluronic acid loses its quality as we age.

AESTHETIC USES OF HYALURONIC ACID

Hyaluronic acid can be injected into the entire skin surface o revitalize and hydrate it. It is also used to correct medium, fine, and deep wrinkles; replenish lost volumes, and exert a tightening effect on the descended tissues.

Hyaluronic acid is a substance that is found naturally in the skin, joints, and cartilage of humans.

Also, hyaluronic acid helps shape the eyebrows, temple, cheekbone, chin, or nose; Treat dark circles and tighten the jaw area. Likewise, it is indicated to increase the thickness of the lips, restore their hydration and correct wrinkles; and eliminate frown lines, forehead, crow’s feet, nasolabial fold, bitter crease, and neck.

ADVANTAGES OF TREATMENTS WITH HYALURONIC ACID

-With hyaluronic acid infiltrations, we achieve effective and visible corrections from the first moment, although its results improve with the passage of weeks.

-The injection is not very annoying, since it is carried out with small-caliber needles or fine cannulas at the subcutaneous level or inside the facial fat. It only requires topical anesthesia.

-The procedure is quick and allows the patient to go back to their normal life immediately.

-Hyaluronic acid is a biocompatible and resorbable substance, whose duration can reach 2 years. In addition, even if the product has been reabsorbed, the correction effect lasts longer, due to the regeneration of collagen and the skin’s hyaluronic acid.

-It does not require specific care, except to protect the skin from the sun in the days following the infiltration or apply cold when it is put on muscles with a lot of movement.

-The safety profile is very large.

HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM BOTULINUM TOXIN?

The differences between them are diverse: hyaluronic acid acts at the level of the skin, especially the dermis; Botox acts at the level of the muscles, relaxing them.

Hyaluronic acid has the function of hydrating when it is punctured more superficially or of filling when it is punctured more deeply, while Botox has the function of relaxing the muscles to prevent this muscle from wrinkling the skin.

With hyaluronic acid we have a restorative treatment of the skin; With Botox, the skin does not improve because it is acted directly on it, but because it relaxes as the muscles are relaxed.

Botox is used on the upper third of the face, crow’s feet, frown, and forehead, while hyaluronic acid can be applied to the entire face.

How to help prevent acne, blackheads and blemishes

Whether in the form of blackheads, pimples, or pimples, many of us suffer from some blemish on the skin related to acne. Today we tell you why acne appears and we tell you some tips so you can learn how to help prevent acne and how to help reduce it.

What is acne?

Acne is a very common chronic inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous follicle that manifests itself mainly with excess sebum on the skin. The sebum clogs the pore and forms the open comedo – known as a blackhead, because the sebum oxidizes in contact with the air and darkens – or the closed comedo – known as a pimple. When the C. acnes bacterium colonizes the closed comedo, an inflammatory lesion is formed that we colloquially identify as a pimple.

Why does acne appear?

Stress, hormonal changes, a high sugar diet, or using cosmetics that are not for acne-prone skin can be some of the causes that are causing blackheads, pimples, or skin imperfections. The origin of acne is multifactorial, it can be due to all these factors:

Genetics

Stress
