As Kelly Slater would say, “You are what you eat”; We are what we eat.
Some people ignore it, but diet is one of the main keys to success when practicing a high level sport such as surfing.
Indeed, a balanced diet in a healthy person covers the needs in vitamins, minerals and trace elements. It thus helps to improve your sports performance.
In short, to achieve the best results, be at your best!
WHAT TO EAT FOR BREAKFAST?
Start the day with a glass of lukewarm water and squeezed lemon or coconut water. Then, diversify your meals, avoid always eating the same thing. Vary the pleasures!
- Smoothie with fruits of the day
- Fruit salad
- Homemade granola
- Porridge, cereals, muesli
3 RECIPE IDEAS FOR A HEALTHY MEAL
- Avocado and Emmental Sandwich
Tip: Heat your prepared sandwich in a pan. Lightly toasted bread and melted cheese will make your sandwich better.
- Meat and mozzarella quesadillas
Advice: Prefer burritos (with corn dough), minced meat and rap mozzarella. Finally, accompany your quesadillas with heavy cream.
- Chicken with white sauce and quinoa
Tip: Cut your chicken into small cubes and serve it with a white sauce with crème fraîche and button mushrooms.
THE IMPORTANCE OF HYDRATION
In any sporting activity, hydration is extremely important. It compensates for water loss and prevents heat stroke or tendonitis.
Warning: Just because you’re surfing doesn’t mean you shouldn’t hydrate, because even if you don’t necessarily realize it, you also sweat in the water!
To do this, drink sufficient water before and after each session. For a long session of at least 2 hours, the ideal would be to get out of the water mid-session to rehydrate.
