Scientists have determined that eating breakfast and dinner earlier reduces the risk of heart and brain vessel disease.
The study, published in the academic journal Nature Communications, found that eating breakfast after 09.00 and dinner after 21.00 had a negative impact on cardiovascular health.
In the study, the data collected over 103 thousand adults, most of them women, about their eating habits in 7 years were examined.
During breakfast and dinner hours, it was observed that every hour above the specified times increased the risk of heart and brain vascular disease by 6 percent.
Those who ate dinner after 21.00 were 28 percent more likely to develop brain vessel disease than those who ate before 20.00.
France’bernard Srour of Sorbonne Paris Nord University pointed out that meal times affect the biological rhythm responsible for functions such as adjusting blood pressure, regulating metabolism, and releasing hormones.
The scientist noted that the sleep hormone melatonin is most commonly secreted in the evening, so eating late dinners makes it difficult for the body to digest.
U S’bhupendar Tayal, at Case Western Reserve University, said delaying breakfast could disrupt insulin balances and lead to heart problems in the future. The researcher also said that skipping breakfast, in particular, poses a risk of obesity.
It was also pointed out that those who ate later in the night may develop more unhealthy habits than those who ate earlier. They said they consumed more cigarettes and alcohol, went to bed later, which negatively affected their heart and brain vessel health
