When the hair becomes greasy and sticky after a day or two after washing, it is considered greasy hair. Oils are natural secretions from the scalp that help maintain healthy hair, but greasy hair is due to excessive production of oils. Hair can become greasy as a result of many reasons such as genetics, hormonal changes, excessive stress, eating a lot of greasy food, and greasy hair is more prone to dandruff and itching.

To prevent oily hair, keep the scalp clean and shampooing daily is not a good idea because the chemicals in some shampoos exacerbate the problem. Fortunately, there are many home remedies that you can use to keep your hair looking good for several days.

1. Apple cider vinegar:

Apple cider vinegar is an effective way to treat oily hair, because acetic acid helps balance the pH level in the scalp, and this in turn helps control the secretions of oils and their accumulation on the hair. In addition, it acts as a hair tonic to keep hair soft and shiny.


Mix 2-3 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water

After shampooing, this solution is used to rinse the hair.

Leave for a few minutes, then wash with cold water.

Repeat two or three times a week.


2. Lemon juice:

Lemon is an effective remedy for various types of scalp and hair problems, including oily hair. It contains many vital vitamins and minerals that promote healthy hair. The acidic property of lemon helps to balance the pH level of the scalp.


Mix lemon juice in two cups of distilled water. You can also add three tablespoons of honey (optional).

Put this mixture on the scalp and hair and massage well for a few minutes.

Leave for five minutes, then wash with lukewarm water.

Repeat three times a week to give the best results.

3. Black tea:

Black tea contains substances that have astringent properties known as tannic acid, which helps prevent the accumulation of excess oils on the scalp by narrowing the pores.


Add two tablespoons of black tea leaves to a glass of water.

Leave it to boil for 10 minutes, then leave it to cool to room temperature.

This mixture is placed on the scalp and hair.

Leave for five minutes, then rinse and wash with shampoo.

Repeat two or three times a week to get rid of greasy hair.


4. Aloe vera gel:

The vitamins, minerals and enzymes present in aloe vera are very useful for getting rid of greasy hair, and helps to detoxify the scalp and control the secretion of oils, as it nourishes the hair roots.


Mix one tablespoon of aloe vera gel and one tablespoon of lemon juice in one cup of shampoo.

Wash the hair with shampoo and leave it on the hair for a few minutes before rinsing it.

You can store this shampoo for up to a week in the refrigerator.

5. Baking soda:

Baking soda helps absorb oils from the scalp and treat oily hair, and the alkaline nature of baking soda helps balance the pH level in the scalp and reduce bad odor.


Mix 3 tablespoons of baking soda with half a cup of water to make a paste. Apply it to wet hair and leave it for a few minutes, then wash the hair with warm water. Use this remedy once or twice a week.


6. Eggs:

Eggs are a natural conditioner for hair, and egg whites reduce the oils that are secreted from the scalp, and are rich in protein that strengthens hair.


Put half a cup of egg white on wet hair, leave it for 15 to 20 minutes, then rinse and shampoo.

Repeat once every two weeks.

Alternatively, beat two egg yolks well and add two tablespoons of lemon juice. Apply this mixture on wet hair and leave it for five minutes, then wash it with shampoo.

7. Tomatoes:

Mix tomato juice with a teaspoon of fuller.

This mixture is placed on the hair and scalp.

Cover the head with a shower cap and leave for 30 minutes.

Wash with cold water.

8. Vodka:

Vodka is an ideal hair tonic that helps maintain the pH level in the scalp and closes the pores that secrete oils.


Mix one cup of vodka with two cups of water.

Wash the hair with shampoo, and then use this mixture to rinse the hair.

Leave it for five to 10 minutes before washing it off with water.

This treatment is used once a week.


9. Banana and honey:

Blend one banana in a blender to get a thick consistency.

Add one tablespoon of raw honey for every four tablespoons of banana paste.
