Things to Consider When Choosing Shampoo

It is very important to use the right shampoo to get rid of your hair problems. If your shampoo is suitable for your hair type and needs, it will make your hair healthier and look more lively and support its development.

Although not using a shampoo that is not suitable for your hair will not harm your hair at first, it can worsen your problems such as dandruff, shedding and wear, and may hinder the healthy development of your hair. Your shampoo should first of all help balance the pH level of your hair. Also, contrary to popular belief, changing shampoos frequently can harm your hair rather than benefit it.

Choosing the right shampoo is the most important step of the hair care routine. Finding the right shampoo is pretty easy once you get to know your scalp and hair better. Here are the factors to consider when choosing a shampoo:

Scalp Type

When choosing a shampoo, it is important to remember that a shampoo can do much more than clean the hair. The right shampoo will not only remove excess oil and dirt from your hair, but also support healthy hair growth by meeting the needs of your scalp. In this sense, it is an important step to know your scalp before choosing a shampoo.

Oily Scalp

People with oily scalp feel the need to wash their hair every day. But washing your hair every day causes more sebum production. To get out of this cycle, try leaving a day or two off your hair wash routine and use a non-hydrating clarifying shampoo. Moisturizing and cream-containing formulas cause your hair to weigh more. Purifying, strengthening and volumizing shampoos help to purify the oil and sebum on your scalp without adding extra moisture to your hair. Also, avoid applying your conditioner to your scalp, making sure to only apply it to the middle and ends of your hair. Finally,

Dry Scalp

People with dry scalp mostly complain of problems such as flaking and itching. Choosing the right shampoo is very important to eliminate these problems and prevent hair loss. If you have a dry scalp, you should stay away from shampoos containing sulfates, volumizing, strengthening properties and harsh chemicals, which tend to dry your hair even more. Moisturizing, smoothing and creamy formulas are a great option for you. For example, a shampoo containing argan oil helps to preserve moisture in your scalp, while a shampoo containing menthol can relieve the itching sensation. You can also prevent frizz by locking in moisture with a conditioner suitable for your hair type.

Hair Type

Washing your hair with the right shampoo is the most important step in your hair care routine. Choosing the right shampoo will make your hair look lively and shiny. Therefore, you should know what type of hair you have and choose your shampoo accordingly.

Fine Hair

Fine hair tends to be naturally soft, voluminous, and greasy. If you have this type of hair, you should stay away from shampoos with moisturizing properties, containing silicones and weighing down the hair. Volumizing shampoos are the best option for you.

Wavy and Curly Hair

For these hair, which is naturally dry and tends to swell, a shampoo that will help moisturize the hair without weighing it down should be preferred. In this way, it will be much easier to define the curls.

Worn and Treated Hair

Treated hair can be dry and brittle. For this reason, they need special care against the worn, lifeless and dull appearance. You can choose repairing and strengthening shampoos containing protein, soy extracts and amino acids that will provide the necessary care and moisture to your hair.

the components

Before you begin, prepare the following ingredients:

To prepare and use this lotion, follow these steps:

Soak the nettles in hot water, and filter the water from the nettles when the water temperature drops.

Add the rest of the ingredients to the nettle infusion you just got, and stir well.

The benefits of this type of hair wash are not only limited to hair growth, but because of its unique ingredients, it may have many other benefits, such as: soothing the scalp, moisturizing the hair, and fighting scalp infections.

2. Clay lotion and tea tree oil

Unlike the previous recipe, the ingredients of this lotion make it closer to regular shampoo, especially since it turns into soap bubbles and foam when exposed to water, and this lotion is specifically recommended for oily hair.

the components

Before you begin, prepare these ingredients:

¼ cup of liquid Castile soap.

2 teaspoons of tea tree oil.

2 tablespoons of green clay powder.

A handful of dried rosemary leaves.

4 tablespoons of green tea.

⅓ cup of jojoba oil.

⅓ cup of water.

Method of preparation and use

To prepare and use this lotion, do the following:

Soak the rosemary leaves in warm water, then filter the water and set it aside.

In a deep saucepan, combine the dry ingredients, then start adding the liquid soap while stirring.

After you finish cleaning the hair with water and shampoo, pour the mixture on the scalp and hair, taking care to massage the scalp and distribute the liquid to all areas of the hair.

After a few minutes, wash the hair using water.

This recipe may help stimulate hair germination and speed up its growth, but you must be careful, as lemon hair lotion may not suit everyone, especially those with brown hair, as lemon may lighten the color of brown hair, and it may also cause dry hair, so it is preferable not to use This recipe is overkill.

If you want to have smoother, frizz-free hair, you must have heard of keratin hair care or Brazilian blowout. Basically the same thing, these softening hair treatments are known for their ability to keep hair looking straight, smooth and shiny for around 6 months. The only problem is that they are loaded with chemicals and ultimately have a bad reputation.

For this very reason, beauty brands, knowing how beneficial keratin can be as a hair care ingredient, have started to formulate products with this ingredient. So do they really work? Discover more about keratin to answer your questions.

What is keratin?

Keratin is actually a structural and protective protein that makes up hair and nails. Responsible for preventing breakage, frizz and heat damage to hair. That’s why it can be used topically to smooth hair and remove frizz.

Before moving on to the benefits of keratin for hair, let’s be clear about what keratin is and how it affects hair. Keratin can also be defined as the cornerstone of the hair structure. It is a fibrous protein that literally makes up every single strand of hair. As hair is damaged, it needs all the help it can get to repair and strengthen its natural structure.

There are two main ways to add keratin to your hair care routine. When hydrolyzed collagen proteins are applied topically to the hair, they can temporarily increase strength by helping to repair damaged areas of the hair shaft. This is generally different from keratin loading in salons.

Keratin loads can damage hair. Despite the potential risks, most people still get keratin treatments at salons. With this in mind, learn the pros and cons of keratin hair treatments, both at home and in the salon.

Keratin benefits for hair

  • Makes the hair smooth.
  • It strengthens the hair.
  • It gives shine.

Whether you prefer keratin treatment in the salon or at home, it will make a difference in your hair. At-home keratin products help strengthen chemically damaged hair. In doing so, products that are usually in the form of oils or serums can result in smoother, shiny and healthy-looking hair.

Keratin treatments in salons use liquid keratin, various chemicals and high heat to load protein into the hair. Results are temporary and usually last up to 6 months. The problem is, you expose yourself to potentially harmful chemicals to reap these benefits.

Of course, that doesn’t mean you should avoid at-home keratin treatments. After all, they are much safer and free of the chemicals and fumes associated with salon techniques. However, if you feel your hair is dry after using a keratin product, switch to a moist product instead.

How to use keratin for hair?

We explained the potential risks of keratin treatments at the salon. Instead, you can take advantage of hair care products formulated with keratin, which is a safer option to make your hair look brighter Shampoos containing keratin, hair care creams, hair care oils or leave-in conditioners are among the options you can choose at this point.

What is a Hair Serum?

Hair serum is a protein-rich liquid usually in oily consistency specially designed to work on the cuticle layer of the hair strands to typically moisturize and protect them from heat and make them silky smooth. Different hair serums are available in the market, promising luscious locks for people with different hair types.
Before we get into the different hair serums specially made for specific hair types, let’s understand how to use the serum for hair growth.

How to Use Hair Serum?

You can use the serum liberally on your hair. However, the only thumb rule is that you should not apply it to your scalp. As the name suggests, it is the “hair” serum, and hence you should apply only on the hair from mid-length to the ends without touching the scalp.

When and How Should you Apply Hair Serum?

  • Preferably after hair wash, towel dry your hair.
  • When it is slightly wet, take two to three pumps of hair serum into your palm.
  • Rub it to both your palms and gently run your palm and finger through your slightly damp hair from mid-length to the ends of your hair strands.
  • Gently detangle your hair and dry it.

You can apply hair serum before applying heat on your hair and after you finish hair styling. Hair serum works like a protective layer on your hair and keeps it intact.

Now that you know how and when to apply hair serum, it is time to know the best hair serum for your hair!

How to pick a hair serum for hair growth based on hair type?

For Dry and frizzy hair

Hair becomes dry and frizzy due to a lack of moisturizing. So, dry hair needs a serum that retains moisture. The best serum for dry hair is a silicone-based hair serum which consists of occlusives that act as barriers to moisture evaporation. If you choose to use a silicone-based hair serum, then make sure you don’t use the same kind in any of your other hair care products because too much of moisture-retention may make your hair look oily.

For Dull hair

If your hair looks dull, you can choose hair serums made of argan or almond oil which do a fantastic job in adding back the lost shine and smoothness to your luscious locks. You can also choose to use Vitamin E capsules as a serum to nourish and enrich your hair with shine. The capsules are available as over-the-counter medicines at any pharmacy.

For thinning frizzy hair

If you are facing hair loss and notice frizz, choose a water-soluble serum with a minimum amount of silicone. However, if you want to avoid silicone-based serums, you can pick serums that contain hydrolyzed proteins that work like magic on thinning frizzy hair by strengthening it in the first place and mending it the right way!

For coloured or chemical-treated hair

Chemically treated or coloured hair is prone to damage, tends to become dry and lifeless over time. It demands a generous amount of moisture to retain a healthy look. There are serums specially curated for chemically-treated or coloured hair, consisting of nourishing oil blended formulas or cream-based serum that exclusively moisturize your hair and retain its shine and texture!

For curly hair

If you have curly hair and would love to retain those lovely curls, you must choose a serum that helps hydrate your locks thoroughly, keeping your curls intact. Lightweight serums with a blend of hydrating formulas will strengthen your hair, reduce breakage and retain the bounce in your classy curls!
