Internal medicine specialist Dr. Vladimir Neronov declared that flatulence could be a symptom of pancreatitis or a bacterial imbalance in the gut microbiome.
In an interview with the “Izvestia” newspaper, the doctor points out that flatulence or excessive gas can occur against the background of serious illnesses, and not only due to malnutrition.
He says: “Flatulence is an annoying problem because it causes discomfort and rumbling in the abdomen. This condition can occur not only due to poor diet, but also due to serious diseases, including pancreatitis, bacterial imbalance in the gut microbiome, irritable bowel syndrome, lactose intolerance and visceral disease. and bowel obstruction.
And he adds, explaining: Flatulence can occur in pregnant women due to hormonal changes. But the most prevalent reason is not following a healthy diet. Eating a large amount of food as well as eating quickly causes flatulence.
And he says: “The food must be chewed well and not in a hurry, otherwise flatulence and gas formation will occur. Also, you should not overeat foods that can cause flatulence. It is better not to eat sweetened drinks, carbonated mineral water, pastries, legumes, black and white bread, potatoes and other foods rich in starch and fast carbohydrates.
And he adds, flatulence can occur as a result of eating foods and products that are not compatible with each other. For example, it is preferable to eat fruits an hour before eating or two hours after eating it.
He says: “To treat the problem of flatulence, you should consult a gastroenterologist who usually prescribes drugs that help absorb gases. But based on the cause of the disease, he may prescribe probiotics and enzyme drugs to restore the bacterial balance in the gut microbiome. In general, to get rid of this problem, you must follow a correct diet.” Free from foods that cause discomfort.
