However, the advantages of olive oil are not limited to moisturizing or nourishment only, but also helps in fighting dandruff. In the following list, we present more than one way to use olive oil to treat dandruff:
Olive oil with almond oil
Almond oil has anti-inflammatory properties, which help calm the irritation of the scalp caused by dandruff, and using it with olive oil works to soften the crust and dissolve the impurities in the scalp to make it clean and healthy.
Method: Mix a tablespoon each of almond oil and olive oil, massage the scalp with your fingertips and along your hair for 15 minutes and leave for 30 minutes, before washing with lukewarm water and a mild shampoo.
with yogurt
Yogurt contains lactic acid that helps treat dandruff and purify it from impurities, and olive oil moisturizes the scalp to prevent dryness.
Method: Mix equal amounts of both yogurt and olive oil, and apply the mixture on the scalp abundantly and massage for a few minutes, and you can also apply it along your hair and leave it for at least an hour before washing it with a gentle shampoo.
with lemon juice
Adding lemon to olive oil promotes the elimination of dandruff thanks to its antioxidant and citric acid content, and helps maintain a balanced pH levels.
Method: Mix two tablespoons of olive oil with a teaspoon of lemon juice, and massage well from the scalp to the ends for at least 15 minutes, leave the mixture for 30 minutes, then wash with an SLS-free shampoo and conditioner.
With tea tree oil
One of the best ingredients for fighting bacteria and infections, this oil is very popular in skin and hair care products, thanks to its anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. It also helps soothe scalp irritation and get rid of dandruff, especially when added to olive oil.
Method: Mix 2 tablespoons of olive oil with 8-10 drops of tea tree oil, apply the mixture to the scalp and to the ends, massage for 10-15 minutes, leave for another 30 minutes or overnight, then wash with a gentle shampoo and lukewarm water.
