Laughter is one of the factors that help reduce the risk of heart disease, according to an American expert who presented five steps to avoid the disease.
Dr. Holly Anderson explained that the first of these steps is to find out the levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood pressure from the doctor.
She continued that the second step is exercising, adding that walking twenty to thirty minutes a week for several days reduces the risk of contracting such diseases.
She stressed that physical activity lowers blood pressure, improves cholesterol levels, reduces stress, and improves sleep quality and cognitive abilities.
Anderson said that laughter is very important for heart health, as just 15 minutes of laughter is equivalent to thirty minutes of exercise in terms of cardiovascular health.
She pointed out the necessity of maintaining the size of the waist circumference more than the weight in general, because this area of the body is the most important measure associated with high rates of diabetes, cholesterol, and blood pressure.
The researcher called for adequate sleep, because lack of sleep promotes high blood pressure, which causes stress, increases appetite, and slows down metabolism.
