Sweating is a natural and physiological phenomenon that regulates body temperature. Sweating has two important functions in our body.

1- It supports the excretory system of our body and regulates our metabolism.
2- It helps moisture balance by wetting our skin.

There are about 2 to 5 million sweat glands in the human body. The number of sweat glands differs in each individual. Sweating of people is directly proportional to the number of sweat glands. However, although women have more sweat glands, men have more sweat glands. About 3 million of the sweat glands are located on the soles of the feet, hands and face and secrete an odorless and clear fluid. Sweat glands in areas such as genitals and armpits have a thick consistency and smell.

  There are certain reasons for sweating. Some of those;

  • Weather (extreme hot weather, extreme humidity),
  • Wrong choice of clothes (wearing excessively thick clothes that are not suitable for the weather or synthetic clothes that prevent our body from breathing),
  • After sports and physical activity,
  • Eating too spicy or too bitter
  • Drinking,
  • Consuming hot beverages (such as tea and coffee)
  • stressful or exciting situations
  • Systemic diseases (diabetes, low blood sugar, overworking of the thyroid gland…)
  • Menopause can also cause sweating.

However, even if there is no condition affecting your body, you may have sweating complaints.
If the antiperspirant treatments are not sufficient,

  • If you have a complaint lasting at least 6 months
  • If it affects your daily life
  • If you have excessive sweating at least once a week,
  • If there is sweating at night,
  • If there is a family history of excessive sweating,

We recommend that you consult your doctor.

When armpit, palm and foot sweats are excessive or noticed from clothes, they begin to interfere with social life. It also affects the private lives of individuals and they may be more abstaining. It causes embarrassment, boredom, and avoids social environment and activities. People with armpit sweating have to change clothes several times a day. People with sweaty palms avoid shaking hands. People with sweaty feet are hesitant to take off their shoes.

The most effective, permanent and reliable treatment method for armpit, palm and foot sweating is “Botulinum Toxin” treatment.

Botulinum toxin is not snake venom, as it is misunderstood. It is quite simply a canned toxin. Botulinum toxin, which is used for treatment, is injected into our body at very low doses by specialist physicians.

The mechanism of action of botulinum toxin is to create a blockage by temporarily preventing the stimuli released from the nerves in the body from reaching the sweat gland. In this way, sweat production is kept under control in the applied area. The mechanism of action of botulinum toxin in cosmetic application and sweat treatment is different.

Although botulinum toxin starts to take effect 24-48 hours after the application, the main effect is observed within 7 to 10 days. The duration of the treatment is between 4 and 14 months. This period varies according to the skin structure of each patient. When botulinum toxin treatment is repeated, the duration of permanence is also extended. This period is shorter for the palms and feet, and a longer effect is observed for the armpits.

Before botulinum toxin sweat treatment, armpit hair should be cleaned. If your armpit hair is removed with wax, it should be done 15 days before, if it is shaved, 3 days before, and laser epilation should be applied 20 days ago. Antiperspirant chemicals such as deodorant and perfume should not be used 24 hours before. Half an hour before botulinum toxin application, hot drinks such as tea and coffee that increase sweating should not be drunk.

Alcohol should not be consumed for 24 hours after the application and heavy physical movements that will increase sweating should be avoided for 7 to 10 days. Excessive sweating after treatment will decrease the success rate of the treatment.

Feeling better is directly proportional to your personal care.
