Walmart has issued an urgent recall for certain lots of its Great Value brand frozen raw shrimp due to potential contamination with Cesium-137 (Cs-137), a radioactive isotope. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommended the recall after detecting low levels of Cs-137 in a shipment from Indonesian supplier PT. Bahari Makmur Sejati. While the levels found were below the FDA’s safety threshold, prolonged exposure to radiation can increase cancer risk over time .
