Grapes are food and medicine

Hanging bunches of green, red and black grapes fill the markets. Some ignore them and others eat them without knowing their great benefits, starting from their thin skin and ending with their seeds.

The benefits of grapes lie in their high water content, which is good for hydration in the hot summer. It is considered a fruit that provides a large amount of nutrients and vitamins for few calories, which is a good thing.

Grapes are useful in the following medical conditions:

– Cancer prevention: Grapes contain polyphenols that act as antioxidants and protect against various types of cancer.

-Heart disease: The flavonoid known as quercetin acts as an anti-inflammatory, reduces the risk of atherosclerosis, and also protects against damage caused by low-density lipoprotein (bad cholesterol – LDL).

– High blood pressure: It is known that consuming large amounts of sodium (table salt) leads to high blood pressure, but new studies also indicate that consuming small amounts of potassium may lead to high blood pressure as well. Grapes contain large amounts of potassium and may be beneficial in cases of high blood pressure.

– Constipation: As we mentioned previously, grapes contain a large amount of water in addition to containing fibers that reduce constipation.

– Menopause: New research today is focusing on red grape peels, which are rich in resveratrol, which is useful in hot flashes and mood swings in women who have reached menopause.

Finally, it is known that grape seeds contain quantities of Omega-3 and Omega-6, which are fatty acids that are very important for various mental processes and also contribute to skin health, as perfumers collect the seeds and extract grape oil from them to make lotions.

In order to fully benefit from the grape fruit, do not throw the seeds aside, but rather break them with your teeth and swallow them to benefit from their contents.
