The story of the lion the king of the forest, and the little mouse
It is said that the lion, the king of the forest and its strongest inhabitant, was one day asleep, when a small mouse living in the same forest began running around him, jumping on top of him, and making annoying sounds, which disturbed the lion’s sleep and forced him to wake up. When the lion woke up from his sleep, he was angry, so he lay down. He placed his huge fist on top of the mouse, and he roared and opened his mouth intending to swallow the small mouse with one mouthful. The mouse then shouted in a voice trembling with fear, hoping that the lion would pardon him, and said: “Forgive me this time, just this time and no more, O King of the Jungle, and I promise not to do this again.” And I will not forget your kindness to me, and also, you kind lion. Who knows? Maybe I will be able to return your kindness one day.” The lion laughed at what the mouse said, and asked with a laugh: “What favor can a little mouse like you offer to a great lion like me? And how can you help me when I am the lion?” The king of the jungle and you, the weak little mouse?” The lion decided to release the mouse just because he told him what made him laugh, so he lifted his grip on him and let him go on with his business. [3] Days passed after that incident until some hunters wandering in the forest were able to catch the lion, tie him to the trunk of a tree, and then set off to bring A cart in which to transport the lion to the zoo, and when the hunters were absent looking for the cart, the little mouse accidentally passed by the tree to which the lion was tied, to see the lion had fallen into an unenviable predicament, so the little mouse bit the ropes that the hunters used to secure the lion and captured him. Until he cut all those ropes, freeing the lion, then the mouse walked away strutting, saying happily: “Yes, you were right. A small mouse can help a great lion like me. A person is measured by his actions, not by his size, and each of us has his own need in this life.”
