Why do we need fats?

There is a common belief that eating fats is harmful to health and increases weight and waist circumference, but in fact, good fats are essential for your health, especially omega-3 fats. We need to balance our diets so that they contain more healthy fats and less harmful fats.

Healthy fats benefit the heart and enhance the functioning of the arteries, especially omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA, which have been proven to be important for the circulatory system, memory, and brain functions, and that obtaining them through the diet is a necessity.

These fatty acids are found in oily fish, such as salmon, mackerel, halibut, tuna and sardines. It can also be obtained through flaxseed oil, olive oil, nuts, and avocado. Many studies indicate that the majority of people do not get enough of these healthy fats.

On the other hand, there is an increasing reliance on trans fats in cooking, which are found in fried foods, margarine, and ready-made pastries. These fats cause damage to the arteries and heart.
